The president of the Xunta recently paid a visit to the Monte Aloia Natural Park, located in the town hall of Tui. There he highlighted the commitment of its government to the conservation of the Network of Natural Parks of Galicia and explained that it has allocated almost €3 million to this type of actions
Protection of Natural Parks
This was highlighted during a visit this morning to Mount Aloia, which was the first natural park declared in Galicia, almost 50 years ago. During his visit, in which he was accompanied by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Ángeles Vázquez, he stressed that walking along some of its paths, which total nearly 10 kilometers, also allows you to do a tour through the history of Galician natural heritage.
In the specific case of Monte Aloia, the Xunta is developing different actions, among which the elimination of invasive species such as acacias -the objective is to act on about 30 hectares until 2026-; the preparation of a guide and a map with information for visitors; as well as maintenance, conservation, recovery and rehabilitation work on habitats, routes, roads and public use areas.
He also wanted to recognize the work and cooperation of the people involved in these initiatives, as is the case of the forest communities “who work hand in hand with the Xunta to be able to have these small wonders that exist in Galicia«he stated.
A joint commitment
With the aim of preserving these protected spaces and guaranteeing that their ecological, aesthetic, educational and scientific values last over time, Rueda also referred to the reservation of an item of 1.3 million euros in next year’s budgets.
To this investment are added nearly 150,000 euros – more than 36,700 euros for Mount Aloia – allocated by the Galician Government to landscaping work in the 6 parks Galician natives.
He also advocated continue collaborating together in the protection of the rich biodiversity of Galicia. “These wonders are to enjoy, to preserve and to pass on to those who come after us,” he concluded.
The autonomous Administration will also allocate nearly 1.4 million euros to more than a hundred aid for town councils, associations, companies and individuals with the objective to promote preservation projects and enhancement of the 6 Galician natural parks.
