“We are convinced of the importance of the productive fabric to achieve all these challenges towards the green transition that will contribute to the improvement of the environment,” said Minister of Development, Housing, Territorial Planning and the Environment, Roberto Media during the inauguration of the III Good Practices Forum #SustainabilityCCOO in the companies of Cantabria.

During his speech, the counselor referred to some of the projects that, in terms of supply and sanitation, energy, waste generation and treatmentclimate change and circular economy, are being carried out through its Ministry.
Among them, Media has referred to the important investments in the digitalization of all water processes that are planned thanks to the allocation of European funds of more than seven million euros obtained through the PERTE of Water, “a financing that we achieved for the first time since the previous Executive did not submit any project to this call«.
An amount, which, as explained by the counselor, is added to the other 8.2 million euros that will be executed in several municipalities of Cantabria through a private company under the CANTABRICONTROL program, which was presented to PERTE together with the regional government.
In addition, he recalled the 27 million euros that will be allocated in the 2025 budget to improve supply and guarantee sanitation in many locations in Cantabria or the increase of 92%, up to 4.5 million euros, destined to carry out necessary works to prevent flooding.
Media has also referred to the Buruaga Government’s effort to promote wind, renewable and clean energy “which had been stuck in the region for more than 20 years.” On this matter, he referred to the start of work on the El Escudo wind farm, the authorization for the creation of the Bustatur park, as well as the declaration of positive environmental impact for the construction of five other wind farms in the Community.
III Forum of Good Practices
This technical and professional meeting, held at the Bahía de Santander Hotel, included the participation of different Cantabrian firms selected by the union as an example of good practices in sustainability.
Thus, Representatives participated in the meeting of the companies Bodegas Vidular, Carnicería Quintana, Destilería Siderit, Moesh Cántabra, Seg Automotive and Sobaos El Andral, as well as the entities Gesvican, University of Cantabria, and the Institute of Hydraulics of Cantabria.
Likewise, the forum has had the main representatives of the union, such as its general secretary Rosa Mantecón, and the different federations, as well as CCOO union delegates in some of the selected companies.
The companies that have been selected in 2024 have shared, during the work meeting, the measures they have adopted in environmental matters. In addition, they have shared projects and ideas aimed at strengthening their commitment to sustainability.
