Asturias: funds to improve the water infrastructure of the council of Llanes

The Department of Ecological Transition of the Principality of Asturias has been informed of the decision to invest more than 2 million with the aim of carrying out, in the council of Llanes, a improvement of its water infrastructure.

The Ministry of Ecological Transition, Industry and Economic Development has four investment projects in water infrastructure in Llanes underway, mobilizing more than 2 million. This was highlighted by Minister Nieves Roqueñí during her visit to the renovation works of one of the sections of the main water supply network of the councilthe connection between Rales and Santo Toribio. On the visit, she was accompanied by Vanesa Mateo, general director of Water.

Roqueñí has ​​highlighted the investment commitment of the Government of Asturias with the Llanisco municipality, both in this legislature and in the last one, and which has its continuity in the 2025 budget project.

Projects in Llanes

The four projects that are currently being carried out in Llanes are the following:

The construction of a wastewater collector to incorporate sanitation from Balmori and Posada to the San Jorge treatment plant, with an investment of 1.56 million euros financed by the Feder Funds. This work will benefit 8,240 people and will reduce the load on the Llanes WWTP, especially in summer periods.

The renewal of the macro water supply to the municipality in the section from Rales to Santo Toribio, which presents frequent breaks and leaks due to its age. This work involves an investment of 353,832 euros, financed with European funds from the MRR, and will benefit 3,754 people. Suppose replacing old asbestos cement pipes with other materialsin accordance with the provisions of the Principality’s Supply Master Plan.

New water tank and treatment installation and digital flow control and level in Buelna, and improvement of the supply of the Riensena nucleus. Both works, with a tender price of 89,743 and 44,472 euros, respectively, are financed with European MRR funds and are executed by the Llanes City Council, with the Principality contributing 80% of the cost. These projects will benefit about 70 people.

More works in 2025

Regarding the works planned for 2025, the reform of the Ardisana treatment plantwith a global investment of 744,036 euros, which will allow this center to be provided with adequate treatment for wastewater. The Ecological Transition accounts contemplate an allocation of close to 650,000 euros to repair this infrastructure.

The counselor explained that these projects are in addition to those carried out in recent years by the Government of Asturias in the municipality, among which are the improvement of the supply of Las Pisas and El Arenal, the renovation of the WWTP pumping stations of Llanes, the works for the future connection of the sanitation of the Andrín core to the San Roque del Acebal network, the new pumping of Po and Barros, and the repair of the biofilters of the main Llanes treatment plant.

Works in Colunga

On the other hand, the counselor has also visited the new treatment plant built in the town of La Riera, in the municipality of Colunga, in which his department has invested 440,960 euros with Feder co-financing. This infrastructure benefits 150 people and replaces the previous one, located in a flood-prone area and which did not offer adequate treatment to the wastewater of this town.
