The XXIX edition of the ‘Andalusia of Environment’ Awards is already here for 2025

Through this Call is intended to recognize the work of society in Andalusia Reflected in both natural and legal, public or private persons, which have contributed noticeable to the improvement and conservation of the environment and to stop the consequences of climate change.

Each application You can only opt for one of the award modalities. However, if the candidacy presented does not specify the modality to which it is presented, the jury may choose to include it in a modality or by excluding it in the event that it does not meet the requirements required in the contest. In the jury’s opinion, and taking into account the characteristics of the project presented, the candidacies may be included in a different modality to the one to which it has been presented.

Andalusia rewards studies of climate change and the environment

The Governing Council has made knowledge of the CALL OF THE XXIX EDITION OF THE ANDALUCÍA DE MIDDER EDITIONS which implements the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment.

These annual awards are aimed at recognizing the effort and involvement of people, entities and groups in the protection and improvement of the Andalusian natural environment, as well as in the promotion of initiatives that favor a sustainable development model.

Since its creation, these awards intend to make visible the work of those who, from different areas, They contribute to the conservation of biodiversity, the impulse of the circular economy or the fight against climate change.

This new edition incorporates as a novelty the category ‘Sustainable Hunt’, a measure collected in the Andalusian Hunting Plan 2023-2033 that value hunting activity as a management tool of the natural environmentcompatible with the conservation of biodiversity and sustainability of ecosystems.

This XXIX edition establishes eight categories that cover different areas related to sustainability and environmental protection. The Modality of ‘Conservation, Natural Environment and Sustainable Development’ It recognizes initiatives that combine the preservation of the environment with social and economic progress, guaranteeing a balance between human activity and the protection of ecosystems.

The Category of ‘Biodiversity’ It rewards those projects aimed at the conservation of species, habitats and ecosystems both terrestrial and marine. In a context where biodiversity loss is one of the main environmental threatsseeks to highlight the work of those who contribute to their preservation and regeneration.

Andalusia: protection of its natural environment

Local entities have their own space in the Modality of ‘Sustainability and Urban Environment’which reward initiatives promoted by municipalities, deputations or joints to promote sustainable development, both in urban and rural environments, underlining the role of the local administration in the implementation of effective environmental policies and close to citizens.

In the field of mitigation and adaptation to climate change, the Category ‘Climate Change’ distinguishes innovative projects that promote the rational use of natural resources and energy, the reduction of emissions and the improvement of sustainability in urban environments.

The promotion of Low carbon economy models and resilience against the effects of global warming They are key aspects that will be valued in this modality. On the other hand, the circular economy occupies a prominent place within the call, with recognition of those initiatives that promote the reduction, reuse and recycling of materials and waste, facilitating the transition to a more efficient and sustainable productive model.

The commitment to environmental education is another of the axes of the contest. In the Modality of ‘Education and Environmental Sensitivity’ Projects are rewarded that promote awareness and social participation in environmental conservation, through educational activities, volunteer programs or awareness campaigns.

In addition, the Category of ‘Environmental Commitment’ He focuses on recognizing the work and trajectory of people who have dedicated their professional or personal life to the defense of the environment in Andalusia. It is a tribute to those who, from different areas, have promoted pioneer initiatives and have contributed exceptionally to the sustainability of the region.

Finally, the novelty Modality of ‘Sustainable Hunt’ Its objective is to recognize projects and practices that demonstrate a rational use of hunting resources, guaranteeing the conservation of species and the sustainability of habitats in which hunting is developed.

The candidacies

People, entities or groups interested in participating in the call may present their candidacies within 20 business days From the day following the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Board of Andalusia.

For the selection of the award -winning candidacies, the jury – presided by the Minister of Sustainability and Environment and composed of professionals of recognized prestige in the environmental field – will take into account different evaluation criteria, especially valuing the quality of the proposalits exhibition clarity and the existence of support that support the candidacy.

Another key aspect in the evaluation will be the Innovative character of the projectwith special attention to initiatives that provide innovative solutions to unresolved environmental problems and contribute to raise awareness about current environmental challenges.

The effort and commitment of candidate organizations will also be taken into account, recognizing those that have adopted concrete measures regarding sustainabilitysuch as the registration of its carbon footprint in the Andalusian Emissing Compensation System or the Adhesion to Environmental Management Standards such as the Community Environmental Management and Audit System (EMAS).

The impact and relevance of the project in the local, national or international context will be another of the determining criteria. The Capacity of initiatives to generate a positive change and its potential for replicability in other territories will contribute to define the proposals that will finally be recognized with these awards.

Once finished The evaluation process, the jury ruling will be made public within a maximum period of two months From the conclusion of the period of presentation of candidacies, through the Official Gazette of the Board of Andalusia and on the website of the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment.
