Technologies for a more sustainable Italy in two parts
The two parts of Airi and Enea deepen 130 high social -economic impact technologies in ten strategic production sectors. These are often solutions in the pre-commercial phase or close to the introduction of production processes, but all possibly decisive for the energy and environmental transition.
Every technology is described in detail, with information about the state of art, market analysis, expected effects and necessary investments. A work that is the result of the cooperation between Enea, Airi and countless research agencies, university and Italian companies.
Energy: between renewable energy sources, hydrogen and new materials
The first part is devoted to energy and has twenty -six innovation scenarios that fit into the eight priority areas of Net Zero Industry Act. Among these we find:
- Sources renewable energy: Photovoltaic, solar thermal, onshore and offshore wind.
- Energy accumulation: new generation of batteries, hydrogen storage, heat pumps.
- Digital solutions: automation, intelligent network management, advanced services.
- Green hydrogen: technologies for electrolysis and fuel cells.
- Sustainable materials: new materials to improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of processes.
These technologies are not only intended for low -carbon, but also on energy security, in an increasingly unstable global context.
Environment and circularity: The revolution starts with waste (and not only)
The second part investigates the innovative scenarios with regard to the environment, industrial symbiosis andcircular economy. The goal? Build sustainable business models and technologies for efficient use of resources.
Under the subjects discussed:
- Recycling and improving the end of life: plastics, polyurethane foam, batteries.
- Environmental technology: treatment and repair of waste water, management of purification sludge.
- Sustainable Agri-Food: Assisted Evolution Technologies (TEA), Fermentations for organic products, conservative agriculture.
Special attention is aimed at the concrete applicability of these solutions in the Italian industrial system.
Innovation to transform: the vision of Airi and Singea
According to Andrea Barate, President of Airi, “The current transition is led by clear needs: Contrasting climate change and guaranteeing energy supply”. However, he warns that a concrete obligation is needed to support research and innovation: only in this way will the challenges become real opportunities.
On the same line Giorgio Graditi, general manager of Enea, who underlines the importance of an integrated and neutral approach from a technological point of view, “Able to place sources, vectors, solutions and technologies on the system”.
