Brian Gorda, vice president of engineering at Terra-Gen, celebrates the success of the Edwards & Sanborn project, which marks a milestone in solar energy storage in the United States. With a capacity of 875 megawatts and almost two million solar panels, this initiative represents significant progress in the energy sector. The project, developed by Terra-Gen and implemented by Mortenson, is the result of an exceptional collaboration between the public and private sectors.
The project, located on an area of 1,860 hectares, includes the latest technology with more than 1.9 million First Solar modules. With an energy storage capacity of 3,287 megawatt hours, the project offers a sustainable and efficient solution for the region’s energy needs.
This project will benefit several entities, including the City of San José, Southern California Edison, Pacific Gas & Electric Co., Clean Power Alliance, and Starbucks, among others. Additionally, the facility at Edwards Air Force Base represents a historic partnership between government and the private sector in renewable energy.
Gorda emphasized the importance of the project: “This facility, which is now fully operational, marks a milestone in the energy sector. “We are proud to have led this project and that it will bring benefits to the community.”
