The whole world was busy drilling the underground to transport this new fuel: Spain shows that it is not necessary and saves billions

Spain has shocked the world by a flammable that many longed for. This action saved billions and several underground drillings. Our country continues its journey towards the search for renewable energies to contribute to a more sustainable world with initiatives such as a renewable mega park.

In this context, different materials are on the table: electricity, hydrogen… Several international companies are exploring ways in which the world can continue to use energy, but without emitting gases that harm the environment.

This is where a Spanish project comes into play, which shows that many people have behaved erratically. Or, at least, in an economically inefficient way. Nortegasa Spanish energy group, has shown a new way to obtain hydrogen, eliminating the industry and its competitors.

This fuel is triumphing in Spain: what has happened to it is unbelievable

Nortegas has exposed the viability of hydrogen in natural gas networks. The company has announced the successful completion of a test phase of the H2SAREA project, in which it has been working on gas networks with 20% hydrogen.

After overcoming this challenge, the company will focus its efforts on a second initiative to verify the feasibility of using 100% green hydrogen in natural gas networks.

H2SALT It culminates in a clear concept: the correct implementation of current gas networks for their use with 20% hydrogen, compared to the mixture allowed by current legislation. Current regulations do not allow more than 5% hydrogen to be present in networks.

The company’s analyzes show that the networks are designed and dimensioned to function correctly with 20% hydrogen. According to the company, the injection of 20% H2 would mean a CO2 reduction that (more or less) corresponds to 40-50% of the domestic demand for natural gas in our country. In this way, 2.8 million tons of CO2 emissions would be avoided.

Spain shows what was unthinkable about this famous fuel

Nortegas It has also clarified that during the 12,000 hours of the project, the hydrogen did not leak or affect the operation of the network. When hydrogen was injected into natural gas, the gas mixture behaves like natural gas across the board and regardless of the small size of the molecule, the hydrogen does not escape and does not affect performance.

During the process, the company performed leak testing, valve operation, control and measuring station operation, house controllers and meters, among other things. These studies confirmed the potential of the project and ensure that the injection of 20% green hydrogen maintains the same safety level as the current natural gas network.

Spain is succeeding in reducing emissions from this fuel: there are people who still can’t believe it

The initiative also shows a significant reduction in flue gas emissions from natural gas mixed with hydrogen compared to combustion with natural gas. Home appliances have achieved results of 54% CO, 7% CO2 and 53% NOx once 20% hydrogen is deposited in natural gas.

Nortegas emphasizes that these tests open the door to full use of the infrastructure that already exists in this national energy quest. It showcases biomethane and hydrogen as solutions for decarbonization without the need for new investments.

Given this revelation, Spain It is placed at the forefront of the sustainable scenario. In fact, he has many more plans for this flammablesuch as Hympulso, the first hydrogen train on Spanish territory.
