Representatives of the Animal Party PACMA and the Foundation for Advice and Action in Defense of Animals (FAADA) held a meeting this Tuesday with representatives of the Junta of Andalusia to deal with population control of Vietnamese pigs and are hybrids in the region.
During this meeting, held in the presence of the General Director of Forest Policy and Biodiversity, Juan Ramón Pérez Valenzuela, the Director of the Andalusian Institute of Hunting and Inland Fisheries, Juan Ortegón Calvente, and the Head of the Geodiversity and Biodiversity Service of the Ministry of Junta of Andalusia, Juan Martínez Carmona, the entities have expressed their opinion concern about what they consider to be avoidable deaths of these animals to keep the population under control.
Both organizations issued a press release thanking the Andalusian government’s willingness to listen to their requests and for the attention paid to them.


“We believe that the fact that the administration could provide non-lethal management alternatives for these species, authorization centers for their collection and maintenance, as provided for in Royal Decree 630/2013 of August 2, which Spanish catalog of invasive exotic specieswould have a very positive impact not only on citizens’ cooperation to remove these animals from the environment in a regulated manner, but also on the improving the image of local and regional authorities themselves«they explain.
Population control of Vietnamese pigs
Because of its presence, PACMA emphasizes the authority of the Board of Directors in this matter pets in areas normally used for hunting, where, however, the Joint resolution of the Directorate General of Agricultural and Livestock Production and the Directorate General of Forest Policy and Biodiversity, which temporary emergency area for hunting for damage and health risks for wild boars and hybrid pigs in Andalusia until May 31, 2024.
Both entities have proposed to the Council that the Vietnamese pigs and their hybrids be excluded from the next resolution expected to be issued for the 2024-2025 season.
For its part, the Junta of Andalusia has committed to study management plan model proposed by FAADAwhich is already being implemented in communities like Catalonia.
“We believe that this Management Plan can provide a good basis for those municipalities that want to make a difference and are committed to non-lethal and at the same time responsible control over the population of Vietnamese pork«they indicate.
Likewise, all parties have agreed to return to the issue at a new meeting likely to take place after Easter, with the aim of exchanging views and trying reach an agreement that favors animals.
