We already know the results of the second PERTE call for digitalization of the water cycle

Returning to the firm results of the 2nd consultationhe Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) published this Friday on its website the final resolution of the second PERTE call for digitalization of the water cyclegranting aid for a total amount of 300 million euros to improve the efficiency of the urban water cycle. After the publication of the provisional resolution, a total of 29 allegations were received. All of them have been analyzed and incorporated into the procedure.

The projects benefited in this second call have been 50with aid ranging from 675 thousand to 10 million per project and an average financing percentage of more than 80% of the budget, reaching values ​​of up to 100%.

The location of the projects extends throughout the national territory and in all the autonomous communities. Up to a total of 1,155 municipalities and a population of 13,171,842 inhabitants will benefit from this aid for the digitalization of the urban water cycle, projects that address water management, both in large and small municipalities in rural areas, with approximately 840 municipalities with a population of less than 5,000 inhabitants.

The beneficiaries are operators and owners of urban water supply, sanitation and purification services of diverse nature, such as local administration entities, public and mixed companies and representatives of the private sector.

The number of entities is more than a hundred, 30 of which are presented individually and the rest grouped with other entities.. The presence of public operators stands out, with a total of 70 beneficiary entities ranging from municipal entities, mainly city councils and municipal companies, supra-municipal companies, mainly associations and consortia, to projects led by provincial councils.

21 private entities that are operators of water services also benefit. Public-private collaboration has been promoted through projects led by groups between private companies and public entities, as well as with the participation of a dozen mixed companies.

The set of projects that are going to be developed with the aid will have a essential impact on the transition to digitalization and the implementation of new regulatory challenges in the sectorallowing to improve the efficiency of the integral urban water cycle from collection, storage and distribution, to sanitation and purification, thus contributing to a more efficient and sustainable use of this resource.

With the resolution of this call, together with the first call for communities of water users for irrigation, which is imminent, The PERTE for digitalization of the water cycle has already mobilized a total of more than 950 million distributed among urban cycle operators (500 million), irrigation users (100 million), autonomous communities (200 million) and Hydrographic Confederations (150 million).

As next steps, in the coming days the second call for the use of water in irrigation will be published with an amount of 100 million.

Additionally, MITECO is processing the third call for aid to the urban water cycle, also financed through transfers from the PRTRfor an amount of at least 50 million, expandable according to available credit. The draft call is in public consultation until October 16 and the deadline for submitting projects is estimated to end in December 2024.

Subsequently, the financing line will be launched through PRTR loans through a MITECO agreement with the ICOline for the digitalization of water uses with a planned investment of 635 million for urban use and 100 million for industrial.
