Second edition of the Galicia Renovable Award, which links industrial development to renewable energy sources

The Xunta de Galicia took part in the second edition of the Galicia Renovable Award, which aims to reward and recognize university talent and highlights various projects related to with the transition and energy efficiency.

The Secretary General of Industry and Energy Development, Nicolás Vázquez, attended the meeting Second edition of the Galicia Renewable Awardthat recognizes university talent and highlights projects related to efficiency and energy transition.

In his speech, Nicolás Vázquez emphasized the fundamental role that universities play in fostering talent in this field advocated gradual decarbonization allowing companies to adapt to new needs without losing their competitiveness. Moreover, he pointed out that if the goal is to decarbonize the economy, Galicia needs more renewable energy.

More renewable energy in Galicia

In this context, Nicolás Vázquez highlighted the model that the Xunta is developing, based on the binomial industry energy, with the aim of future industrial development of Galicia towards renewable energy sources and called for continued support of renewable energy projects to generate prosperity in the area.

An objective set out in the Act to promote the social and economic benefits of projects that make use of Galicia’s natural resourceswhich will be approved this month in the Galician parliament.

With this standard promoted by the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the Xunta confirms its commitment to develop exploitation projects that promote the industry and at the same time provide improvements to Galician citizens and to the spaces in which they are implemented.

Nicolás Vázquez, Secretary General of Industry and Energy Development, has opted for gradual decarbonization. For this reason, he emphasized the validity of the model that the Xunta develops and which is based on it binomial industry energy, focused on growth without a break from renewable energy in the province.
