World Nature Conservation Day 2024

He World Wildlife Conservation Day is celebrated every year October 18 Basically its purpose is to raise awareness among the world population, governments and institutions around the world on issues related to this protecting the planet’s biodiversitythat is, motivate the ecological responsibility about the environmental protectionin addition to the care of natural spaces.

Through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the agenda 2030z promotes countries to achieve a good level of development without causing damage to nature. To help this goal, it is possible to implement a series of measures such as reuse and recyclingMoreover, of the use of renewable energy sources and the construction of urban development with green roofs. One can also refer to the reducing our own ecological footprint and the use of reusable ecological bags.

There is a distinction that is essential to emphasize because it is often confusing: one thing is ‘protection of the’ environment‘ and a completely different one is ‘conservation and/or conservation of nature’.

The environment is everything that surrounds us (water, air, soil, etc.) and constitutes a system in which exchanges of energy and matter take place. Any disruption to it has a direct impact on living things. Because they have to (and we have to) drink water clean, breathe fresh air and eat correctly.

Therefore, all environmental protection plans have as their ultimate goal that the physicochemical processes related to the functioning of living beings remain undamaged. That is, they strive for a quality environment in which they recycle waste, do not pollute, etc.

On the other hand, when we talk about preserving nature and biodiversity, we want to cherish the product of a long biological evolution. The result of this is the millions of species we share the planet with. And all those circumstances that made this possible evolution.

And although environmental protection is extremely necessary for the development of the biodiversityin itself is not sufficient and there may be cases where this conflicts with the objectives of the nature conservation.

A good example are plants that grow in highly polluted locations and have adapted to these conditions. Therefore, if they vary, their conservation should be considered.

Why protect nature?

All plants and animals that live on the planet make up the Nature and it is impossible to quantify its quantity. Of the 10 to 30 million species speculated to exist, only 1.42 million are known, according to experts. And of the total, a third could become extinct by 2050 without us ever knowing.

Therefore, our actions should not disrupt the lives of any other species. And this is because we all form an integral ecosystem, which each of its creatures needs to survive.

Unfortunately, we are the worst neighbors on earth and if we do not change our attitude and start living with respect for nature, if we want to agree, humans will be the next to appear on the Red List of species that could become extinct.
