Coastwatch activity Ceuta 2024 is a citizen science initiative that aims to protect and conserve the coastline of Ceuta and its coasts. For this, monitoring will be carried out, combined with environmental education activities.
Coastwatch is a European citizen participation project which every year brings together volunteer groups to analyze the state of conservation of the coasts, promoting awareness about the natural and socio-environmental values of the coast. The inspection is carried out throughout the fall, when summer impacts are assessed, including waste accumulation, environmental threats and the biodiversity of coastal areas. This joint effort builds collaboration networks to advance towards an ecosocial transition on our coasts.
Coastwatch Ceuta seeks to involve local entities, organizations and committed citizens, creating synergies between different agents to promote the well-being and development of sustainable coastal communities. With this active participation, Ceuta se a a the European coastal monitoring networkleading the collaboration for the protection of our coastline.
Coastwatch Ceuta 2024
They are divided into two main ones, on the one hand the training of the participants, so that the volunteers who participate in this project can receive specific training on coastal management, biodiversity, identification of waste and socio-environmental impacts. The training is designed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge to carry out coastal inspection in accordance with Coastwatch Europe standards. These workshops, whose location will be determined later, will be held on November 22, 23, 29 and 30.
Subsequently, the inspection activity will be carried out, scheduled for Saturday, December 14, and will consist of a detailed evaluation of assigned stretches of the coast of Ceuta. Participants, organized in groups and guided by coordinators, will analyze environmental indicators such as biodiversitythe presence of residues and the state of coastal area conservation.
Coastwatch Ceuta It is a good way to demonstrate the commitment that Ceuta has with the environmental education of its citizens and the well-being of its coasts. The initiative is open to entities, groups, associations and all those citizens interested in contributing to the sustainable development of the aforementioned community.
