A “Euroflora 2025”The adaptive greenhouse from Space V
EuroFlora 2025, the historic flower event that transforms Genoa into an international garden every five years, is housing a space -curi this year: a multiple space tongue, designed to cultivate vegetables and plants outside our planet.
To create it, Space V, the innovative startup was founded by Franco Malerba, the first Italian astronaut, today pioneer of alien agriculture.
The Space V stand (B135, Blue Pavilion) ideally transports visitors to the International Space StationLive show a technology to bring about a revolution in the way we produce food in extreme environments, from deep space to the deserts of the earth.
In fact, this technology is not only suitable for agriculture in space, but also in the most extreme places on our planet.
The innovations of Space V agriculture agriculture
Space V’s adaptive vertical farm (AVF) is a patented vertical greenhouse that stands out for the ability to dynamically adapt to the growth of plants, space, water and light. In comparison with traditional greenhouses, AVF offers a double yield and less energy consumptionI: Essential qualities when growing in extreme environments.
This innovative greenhouse is intended to support long -radiant space emissions, such as those of the Artemis or NASA program, and can also be used in the future moon or Mars bases. But not only: as already mentioned, the same technology can be used in extreme environments on earth, such as offshore, submarine, deserts or polar areas, which contributes to global food safety.
Franco Malerba: “Cultivating in space is a necessity”
“We are confronted with a real revolution”Explains Franco Malerba, who will be present at the event every day to meet the audience and tell the project. “Cultivation in space is no longer just a dream, but a concrete necessity to guarantee the autonomy of future interplanetary missions. With space V we want to continue a vision in which science and sustainability come together, which offers solutions for both the job and the earth”.
Malerba, with a long engineering and spatial experience behind it, founded Space V in 2021 as a spin-off of theUniversity of GenoaWith operational offices also in Turin.
The startup was one of the first Italians to participate in the program ESA BIC (Business Incubation Center of the European Space Agency)confirm itself as a reference point in the space building sector.
All appointments with Space V at Euroflora
In addition to the permanent exhibition of the Serra, Space V organizes two events to deepen the challenges and potential of agriculture in space:
- April 24 (16: 00-17: 30) -Ginestra Room: “Space Technology for the sustainable production of vegetable food” (Your invitation event)
- May 1 (16: 30-18: 00) -arena Roverella: “Plants for the service of food in space”, Open to everyone.
Two possibilities to understand how scientific research builds up a new food paradigm, able to respond to the needs of an increasingly interconnected future between country and space.
The meeting between IInnovation and Orthoflorovivaism, in the center of the Space V mission, shows how the solutions developed for space can return to Earth with concrete benefits: more efficient, sustainable cultivations and also suitable for hostile or urbanized environments.
EuroFlora will be held from 24 April to 4 May on the Waterkant van Levante, in the Genoa Exhibition District.
