biogas It is a type of renewable gas that can be extracted from organic waste from various sectors and industries, such as food, agriculture or livestock farming.. The idea is that wherever biodegradable organic material is present (i.e. it can be broken down), it is possible to obtain this biofuel.
The transformation of waste into fuel gases with a low ecological footprint makes it possible to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills. This generates a positive impact on the environment and forms a important role in the circular economy and decarbonization of the economy.
A2BIO: Andalusian Biogas Alliance
The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has held the presidential position in Jaén presentation event of the Andalusian Biogas Alliance A2BIO which, as he has said, represents a solid step that brings Andalusia closer to the objective of consolidating and positioning itself as a benchmark in the market for decarbonization of the economy. “We have a unique opportunity to grow under the protection of the energy and environmental revolution that is already underway.”

Moreno explained that This energy alliance is the result of public-private partnership and will ensure that Andalusia remains an example on important issues such as the energy transition and the circular economy.
In this way, he pointed out that the Andalusian community has managed to double its installed renewable electricity in just five years, until it reaches a park of approximately 12,500 megawatts at the end of the first half of this year, i.e. 61 .% of the total electricity installed for electricity generation in Andalusia already comes from clean sources.

In that sense he emphasized that The Andalusian Alliance for Biogas is the first in Spain for the development of biogas, promoted by a government agencywhich has been described as a milestone of the first magnitude that will allow Andalusia to expand and diversify its commitment to sustainable energy from a new source of clean energy from organic waste.
In this context, he pointed out that there are already around ninety affiliated entities, including, among others, companies, business associations, universities or technology centers, while at the same time expressing the enthusiasm and cooperation of all allies to make biogas a success“A road map will be defined among all allies that will allow us to promote its orderly and efficient development and make the most of its potential,” he added.
The Andalusian president has indicated that according to a survey by SEDIGAS Andalusia is the second community with the greatest potential in Spain, with 334 possible plantsand has stated that if all these could be implemented, biogas production could cover 100% of natural gas consumption in the domestic and industrial sectors in the Andalusian community.
Major focus on biogas
“Focusing on biogas will make a major contribution in a very valuable way goal of self-sufficiency through clean energy. In addition, Andalusia takes up the challenge of promoting more efficient biogas development, thereby minimizing emissions and neutralizing other negative impacts such as waste management or odors.”
In relation to this matter he has stated that The Andalusian government is already working on a regulatory change that will impose a very restrictive limit on odor emissions from these plants.because, as he noted, “we can only imagine the development of clean energy if it contributes to improving the quality of life of Andalusians and preserving our natural environment.”
Moreno has emphasized that biogas represents a great opportunity for rural areas as producers and consumers of this new form of energy and has assured that Jaén has everything in its favor to become the Spanish capital of biogas, offering an extraordinary opportunity to grow in innovation and industry in a sustainable way. «Jaén, one of our agrifood strongholds. If your olive oil is valuable, its ability to generate clean energy is no less valuable. Thanks to the olive grove, this province has the greatest potential for biogas development.”
He thus reiterated the commitment of the Andalusian executive, the business community and knowledge centers to make the most of this new renewable energy, clarifying that In Andalusia there are currently 21 biogas production plants, supplying approximately 33 megawatts. and that the aim is to build more advanced factories that can produce biogas and inject it into the gas pipeline network, taking into account that natural gas is the second most demanded energy source in the Andalusian community.
This is how he explained it Fifty biogas business projects are underway in Andalusia that would require an investment of 1,400 million euros and the creation of 3,500 jobs.of which 41 are processed for a total value of 840 million euros and 2,000 jobs.
The President of the Council has specified that the province of Jaén concentrates almost half of these projects and also of investments with approximately 710 million euros, adding that it is the province with the highest number of projects in progress, maximum 16and with an associated investment of approximately 563 million euros.
“These projects will not only bring environmental and economic benefits, but will also help settle the population in the area. Just as we have paved the way in the innovative field of green hydrogen, we will do the same also set the course in the biogas sectorthus promoting one of the greatest examples of a circular economy by using field waste to convert it into clean energy.
At this point, he stressed that the achievement of these objectives also depends on the Spanish Government’s compliance with investments in the electricity network, and he stressed that The density of high-voltage lines and electrical infrastructure is 40% below average.
He pointed this out The province of Jaén needs an investment of at least 113 million euros to provide an adequate electric transport network and has mentioned some of the necessary investments, such as the construction of a new substation in Úbeda, another in Mazuelos and the strengthening of the Guadame junction and its connection with Manzanares, in Castilla-La Mancha. “These 113 million for Jaén represent one in four euros of the 544 million that Andalusia has requested from the government in its energy planning until 2030.”
Finally, he emphasized that Renewable energy is one of the main pillars of Andalusia’s new economy and progress and has claimed the need for market unity among the autonomous communities so that economic activity is not harmed by a web of obstacles depending on each territory.
«In this first semester we will implement the necessary legal reforms to guarantee this market unity and in that Andalusian ecosystem Our Project Accelerator Unit has a special place in the province of Jaén, accelerating six projects with 660 million and 370 jobs.
