The UNEF (Spanish Photovoltaic Union) announces the celebration of the III Storage and Hydrogen Summit, which will take place between February 11 and 12, 2025. There will be two days of intense debates and roundtable discussions, where experts from the energy sector will discuss the most relevant topics in the field of energy storage, biocircularity and green hydrogen.
The Biocircularity consists of closing the production cycles of certain processes both in the primary and secondary sectors (agriculture, livestock farming, forestry sector and related industries), whose raw materials consist of organic matter and/or Generating CO2 and other biogenic gases.
I Biocircular Summit
On February 11, Hotel Riu Plaza España in Madrid will host the I BioCircular Summit, the first forum in Spain to discuss the subsectors of biocircularity as a whole: bioenergy, biofuels and eFuels, renewable gases, bioproducts and biorefineries. This event will bring together experts, managers, technicians and institutional representatives to analyze the entire biocircularity value chain, from the supply of biomass raw materials, their sustainability compliance, business models and the latest innovations in technologies or processes.
Organized by the Spanish Association for Biocircularity (BIOCIRC)the Spanish Technological and Innovation Platform in Biocircularity (BIOPLAT) and the State Biocircular Hub, this forum is presented as the essential annual reference for those interested in promoting the ecological transition through biocircular solutions.
Since the biocircular business models share raw materials, regulations and territoriesit is essential to know everything to successfully progress in each of them; and BioCircular Summit will provide that integrative vision. The regulatory, political, strategic and business keys of a key sector will be provided to achieve the defossilization of the economy, reindustrialization, structuring of the territory, energy independence and tackling the demographic challenge with biocircularity as a common axis.

Biocircularity is positioned as an essential pillar for this to meet global challenges such as climate neutrality, energy sovereignty and rural developmentl. The European Union is actively promoting this transition through the European Green Deal, the Renewable Energy Directive and the Net Zero Industry Act. Spain, with its great potential in biomass and sustainable technologies, is called upon to play a leading role. In this context, the Spanish BioCircular Summit is an opportunity to translate ideas into action and strengthen synergies in the search for business competitiveness and generating positive impact in the territories.
Transversal approach for a transforming sector
Among other issues related to biocircularity, this first edition will discuss:
- Bioenergy: electricity generation from biomass, high-efficiency cogeneration in the agri-food industry and the influence of policy and regulations.
- Biofuels and SAF: Sustainable solutions for aviation and maritime transport, challenges faced by the industry to increase production of biological and synthetic SAF and meet REFuel Aviation objectives.
- Renewable gases: situation of the biogas and biomethane sector in Spain, REPower EU target, project viability and social license.
- Bioproducts and biorefineries: potential to defossilize industries, transportation and petroleum-derived materials.
These subsectors will be analyzed in depth through roundtable discussions, policy pills, CEO conversations and showcases.
Networking, innovation and awards for excellence
The BioCircular Summit will be a meeting point to promote strategic alliances. Company stands are presented in the exhibition space. Likewise, there will be BioInnovation, a space to make visible the latest scientific-technical and industrial progress through scientific posters, with results from innovative solutions that promote the competitiveness and industrialization of the sector in the areas.
In addition, the 1st State Biocircularity Awards will be presented, which will recognize key leaders of the transformation towards sustainable biocircular business models. There are seven open applications, covering public-private partnership, territorial impact in biocircularity, career and leadership in biocircularity, sustainability and social inclusion, excellence in biorefineries and bioproducts, leadership in bioenergy, biofuels and renewable gases will reward.
El I BioCircular Summit is sponsored by Urbaser, Ence, Moeve, Enso and Iberia.
