From 5 to 10 June 2025 in Turin the 28th edition of the Cinemambiente FestivalThe main Italian review dedicated to environmental cinema. Seventy-seven films from all over the world, free projections and eco-cultural events. The Festival is confirmed as a reference point for reflection on the environment and society
A festival between cinema and sustainability
The 28th edition of the Cinemambiente Festivalorganized by National Cinema Museum and directed by Lia Furjitakes place from 5 to 10 June 2025 in Turin. Part of the projections will also be available online on the openddb platform, accessible from site official until June 21st.
The scheduled films and sections
This year the films in projection are seventy -seven, from twenty -six countries, divided into the sections: documentary competition, short film competition, made in Italy and panorama. The latter, for the first time organized for themes, explores new imaginary through dedicated panels: eco-distopias, environment-war ratio, return of wildlife in anthropized environments.
To these are added special projections. Within the program, there will also be awareness issues, such as climate change, loss of biodiversity and exploitation of resources, but also emerging topics such as nuclear energy, spatial colonization, ecocide as a weapon of war.
Inauguration and closing with Film-Event
The Festival opened on Thursday 5 June 2025, on the occasion of the World Environment Daycon “Wonders of the Sea (1922)” Of John Ernest Williamson.

The film, among the first to include underwater shots, is accompanied live by the group Disturbancein homage to the Oceans and the UN Conference in progress in Nice.
The closure, on June 10, is entrusted to Asif kapadia (Oscar winner) with the film “2073 – Last call”a drama eco-distopic which denounces the democratic drift, the climatic crisis and digital control. The film will be distributed in Italian theaters on 16, 17 and 18 June by FilmClub Distribuzione.

There are also numerous collateral events, created in collaboration with scientific and cultural partners:

Free admission for everyone
All the screenings (at the Maximum Cinema) and the Festival events are free. In this way, Cinemambiente represents an opportunity open to everyone to reflect and confront each other on the most urgent themes of our time through the synergy between the strength of cinema and culture.
