Bard Fort: a tribute to nature in the heart of Bard Fort
Il Bard Fortfrom 3 February to 2 June 2024, hosts the 59th edition of Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Promoted by Natural History Museum of London, it is a visual ode to the beauty of naturefeaturing images selected from over 49,957 registrations from 95 different countries. The global talent exhibition is a unique opportunity for the Italian public. The chance is to immerse yourself in the magnificence of wildlife through the eyes of some of the world’s best photographers.
The display in the gunboats
The awarded images in 17 categories are displayed in an evocative display inside the Cannoneer of the Fort of Bard. This particular frame is further accentuated by the use of light panels, which add an emotional dimension to the photographs, amplifying the intrinsic beauty of the works.
Event details
This year’s competition attracted the attention of photographers of all ages and experience levels, recording almost 50 thousand registrations. An international jury, led by industry experts, evaluated the images based on originality, storytelling, technical excellence and ethical practice.
The result was rewarding Laurent Ballesta as Nature Photographer of the Year, thanks to his extraordinary image “The golden horseshoe”. Carmel Bechler he won the title of Young Nature Photographer of the Year with his engaging image “Owls’ road house”.
