Galicia, dissemination in the nature classrooms of Siradella and O Veral

The dissemination and awareness-raising service contracted by the Xunta de Galicia various nature classrooms at three locations in Lugo It will cost approximately €105,000.

The Xunta awarded the service for the development and implementation of information campaigns and activities of consciousness and environmental awareness through nature classrooms of Siradella, in O Grove, and O Veral, in Lugo.

Valid for three years (2024, 2025 and 2026), although extendable for another year, the main purpose of this contract is to contribute to the spread of the own values ​​of the Natura 2000 network and the Community’s protected natural areas, as well as biodiversity and the different types of habitats they host through various actions and the design of specific material, such as triptychs and diptychs.

In this way, schoolchildren and organized groups attending one of these activities will be able to experience environmental educational actions in the two nature classrooms that will serve as The aim is to arouse interest and curiosity in discovering and getting to know the environmentproviding appropriate materials and tools for connection that facilitate and motivate learning and knowledge of protected spaces.

In any case, and although the activities will take place mainly in the Siradella and O Veral facilities, the contract also provides for both classrooms to have a didactic projection outside their space. For this purpose, a pocket of 300 hours is reserved in each of them for this type of action includes travel to educational centerssocio-cultural or headquarters of other associations and entities interested in the matter and belonging to the municipal councils of O Grove and Lugo or other parts of Galicia.

As stated in the supporting report, the technical team required to provide the service must consist of a minimum of four people: two specialized technicians and two environmental monitors.

What are nature classrooms?

He natural heritage and biodiversity play a remarkable social function for their close relationship with people’s health and well-being, and for the contribution they also make to the social and economic development of Galicia.

To strengthen this function, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change exercises the powers of disclosure of natural heritage values through nature classrooms in protected natural areas or areas protected under an international instrument, and organizing awareness-raising activities and communication campaigns from these classrooms.

These facilities improve the offer of public use of these types of spaces and contribute to the development of positive behavior and activities aimed at preserving the environment, because they promote sensitivity, creativity and the ability of visitors to appreciate the environment.

The planned actions will mainly be developed in the facilities themselves, but also within them educational, socio-cultural centers or headquarters of other entities. They all aim to spread the values ​​of the Natura 2000 network and protected spaces to citizens.
