Galicia is committed to the energy transition and the use of renewable energy sources

The Xunta de Galicia has confirmed its commitment to both countries use of renewable energy sources as with the energy transition, advocating public-private partnerships and emphasizing the government’s commitment to business innovation

The Minister of Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, recently attended the presentation of the Business Chemistry Excellence Award that the Official College of Chemists of Galicia presented this year to ABCR Labs, located in the David Raposeiras business park in Forcarei (Pontevedra). He emphasized that, with fifteen years of experience, he managed to position himself in the world chemical research and production sector that exports around the world, and highly values ​​its commitment to local talent.

Focus on sustainable energy

Lorenzana emphasized that chemistry has contributed great progress to the industry, which is crucial for the energy transition and sustainable development. In this sense, he emphasized that most of the ten strategic industrial projects declared so far are related to green hydrogen. circular economy or biofuelsand can mobilize investments worth 2,500 million euros in Galicia in the coming years.

The advisor, in this regard, advocated public-private partnership and emphasized the impetus that the Xunta wants to give to business innovation with a new specific area that will be created in the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (Igape), with an investment of € 11.5 million. An area that, according to him, focuses, among other things, on bringing artificial intelligence closer to companies. And from which two new helplines will also be managed: Igape Innova (4 million euros) and the new Ticket Innova program (1 million euros), with a support amount of up to 60,000 euros, for companies from traditional non-technology producing sectors.

The official College of Chemists of Galicia also awarded the recognition as a leading member to Covadonga Salado, director of the Technological Institute for the Control of the Marine Environment (Intecmar), whom Lorenzana highlighted career at the head of this entity.
