Gardaland SEA LIFE Aquarium at the “24 Hours Global Beach Clean”

THE AQUARIUM OF THE WELL-KNOWN AMUSEMENT PARK ACTIVELY PARTICIPATES IN PROJECTS OF EDUTAINMENT AND INITIATIVES OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION. ALSO THIS YEAR THE GARDALAND SEA LIFE AQUARIUM HAS INVOLVED EMPLOYEES, FAMILIES AND LOCAL INSTITUTIONS IN THE SEA LIFE TRUST INITIATIVE FOR THE CLEANING OF BEACHES AND WATERWAYS

Every year, SEA LIFE TRUST organizes global cleanups of beaches and waterways, inviting participants from all over the world. It is estimated that approximately 8 million tons of plastic end up in the oceans every year, with the prediction that by 2050, plastic could outnumber fish.

Plastic waste pollutes oceans, coasts and waterways, even contaminating local beaches. This waste, in addition to being unsightly, endangers wildlife and their habitats, causing deaths and irreparable damage.

Furthermore, the microplastics they have already entered human food chains, being ingested by plankton and filter-feeding animals, and reach our plates.

The project “24 Ore Global Beach Clean”

The project “24 Ore Global Beach Clean”organized by Merlin Entertainments and SEA LIFE TRUST, aims to fight plastic pollution. From different parts of the world, such as Italy, New Zealand, California, Bangkok and Brighton, hundreds of people join together to participate in this global effort.

In 2023, 1,643 volunteers from around the world collected almost 3,000 kg of waste, including unusual objects such as welding sheets, gender reveal banners, steering wheels and bicycle frames.

Among the numerous initiatives carried out by Gardaland SEA LIFE Aquariumthe Global Beach Clean represents an important opportunity to make a difference. This year too, the aquarium participated by inviting colleagues, friends and family to participate in the event.

Fifty volunteers from Gardaland SEA LIFE Aquarium contributed to cleaning the lakefront beach. They collected almost 18kg of waste and supported the protection of local aquatic species.

Gardaland SEA LIFE Aquarium is committed to transmitting to visitors the knowledge and respect for the marine environmentactively participating in edutainment projects and environmental protection initiatives. The aquarium involves employees, families and local institutions in activities aimed at safeguarding the territory.

Inside the Aquarium, visitors explore environments that are carefully reproduced He lives in the sea of numerous species. From the Sarca river to Lake Garda, up to the Po Delta and beyond, through the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.

The aquarium is home to over 5 thousand marine creatures of one hundred different species, visible through forty themed tanks, designed for children, with portholes and domes. Among these species, you can admire sharks, seahorses, scorpion fish, starfish, jellyfish and tropical fish.

The journey culminates with a transparent ocean tunnelwhich offers visitors the opportunity to feel immersed in the ocean, surrounded by sharks, rays, stingrays and other colorful fish.
