IL PROGETTO GREENIFYCo-financed by the European Union in the context of Program Erasmus+Aims to reduce the gender gap in the STEM sectors (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and in the GREEN ECONOMY. The initiative is addressed in particular to girls and young women from rural or disadvantaged areas, offering them tools and skills to become the protagonists of the ecological transition
Greenify: a project for inclusion and innovation
Greenify was born from the awareness that women are still under -representative in the scientific and technological sectors, crucial areas for the future. According to data Stateonly 22% of women graduate choose scientific disciplines, limiting their professional opportunities in emerging sectors such as environmental sustainability and digitization.
This gap is also reflected at national level, with Italy that is positioned in 14th place in the EU gender equality index, below the European average. Despite the significant investments envisaged by the national recovery and resilience plan, which allocates 40% of resources to the ecological and digital transition, the success of these initiatives depends on the full participation of women in the labor market.
How the project takes place
To respond to this challenge, the project has developed two key tools:
- Stem Toolkit: a set of educational resources to bring young women closer to scientific and technological subjects.
- Sustainability management module: a training program to prepare girls for the challenges of the Green Economy.
The project involves a consortium of partners from Italy, Bulgaria, Spain and Belgium, who work closely with Stem teachers, trainers and political decision -makers to experiment and implement educational materials in the next two years.
The role of Italy in the Greenify project
Italy is investing in gender equality through various initiatives, including the national strategic plan for gender equality 2021-2026. Greenify fits perfectly into this context, helping to create more inclusive educational paths for the professions of the future.
In addition, the project connects to the investments provided for by the national recovery and resilience plan, PNRRwhich promotes ecological and digital transition as key sectors for economic growth and employment.
A cultural change for a sustainable future
In addition to filling the gender gap, Greenify aims to create a cultural change, making young women aware of their potential in the Stom sectors and sustainability. The initiative aims not only to train qualified professionals, but also to break down the stereotypes that discourage women from taking scientific careers.
Duration of the project and where to follow it:
The project will last two years and will involve teachers, trainers and political actors, guaranteeing the long -term sustainability and adoption of the proposed educational model. The direct experiences of the participants will become stories of change, capable of inspiring other young women to undertake professional paths in the field of the STEMs.
