The Festival “Italy calls Arctic”Promoted by Observatorio Ambia in collaboration with the Municipality of Bologna, reaches its fourth edition. The theme of the Arctic, crucial for global policies, will be at the center of a day of meetings and debates that highlight the environmental challenges and the opportunities deriving from the changes taking place
The global context
In 2024, the Arctic became the protagonist of the international political debate. It all started with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who declared Greenland a crucial element for national security. This has brought the polar region, initially perceived as a distant and not very relevant territory for Italy, at the center of attention, raising fundamental issues such as the climate change and global geopolitical dynamics.
During the year, concern for climate change has increased. Often, what seems far from us is seen as a remote problem, perhaps because not everyone includes the butterfly effect. A small beat of a butterfly wings can trigger a hurricane on the other side of the world.

The festival follows the successes of the previous editions in Genoa. The aim is to raise awareness of the public on environmental and climatic challenges related to the polar region, but also to highlight the development and growth opportunities that derive from the change in progress beyond the Arctic Circle.
The Festival, with free admission prior recordingwill be divided into a day of meetings and debates. There will be international experts from institutions, universities, companies and research centers. The event enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Bologna and the Navy.
