From 23 to 25 May, throughout Italy, citizens respond to a simple and powerful call: take care of the beauty that surrounds us. Is the RETAKE DAY 2025The first edition of a national mobilization that transforms love for the territory into collective action
A moving community
In twenty cities, from Bari to Milan, from Palermo to Turin, thousands of people join the name of A more beautiful, cleaner and more right Italy. An Italy where civic participation becomes the engine of concrete change and where the care of public spaces translates into a new form of active citizenship.
Retake story
Retake was born fifteen years ago in Rome as a spontaneous gesture of citizens who, tired of urban degradation, decide to act firsthand. Today is one widespread network Throughout the country, with numbers that testify to a silent but tenacious revolution: only in the last twelve months, over 34 thousand volunteers participated in more than 2,100 events, collecting over 111 tons of waste. It is not just cleaning: it is shared responsibility, it is the regeneration of the urban and social fabric.

On the occasion of Retake Daythis energy is concentrated in a single large collective appointment. The initiatives range from the redevelopment of green areas and sidewalks, to the recovery of historic views and forgotten neighborhoods. Each gesture, a cleaner wall, a reforitous flowerbed, a park returned to children is a declaration of love for their city and towards those who live there.
Beauty is a common good
Retake day is much more than a series of events: it is a cultural vision. In an era marked by individualism and social fractures, taking care of a flowerbed or painting a bench are not simple acts of urban decoration, but political gestures in the most noble sense of the term.
It means saying “this place is ours, and we treat it with respect”. It means rediscovering the value of us in a world that often pushes towards isolation.
“With the retake day we live together a concrete gesture to make our country more beautiful, more right and more ours”, states Fabrizio MilonePresident of Retake. “We will be in 20 Italian cities: the invitation is addressed to everyone, but above all to young people. It is time to be the protagonists of the change, not just spectators “.
An Italy that gets up with your hands in the earth
In the simple gesture of collecting a paper, there is an entire citizenship model. Retake proposes a vision of Italy in which citizens do not passively await intervention from above, but they mobilize from the bottomin a virtuous alliance with schools, institutions and associations.
It is the democracy of the dirty hands, of the participation that arises from the street, from the neighborhoods, from the desire not to surrender to degradation. In this sense, retake day is also a large civic laboratory: a place where Educate the new generations respect, to commitment, to responsibility.
