Lightsource bp, a global leader in the development and management of terrestrial renewable energy and large-scale energy storage solutions, has organized an institutional visit to the area where the construction of the Guillena cluster is being carried out to herald the start of works and announce the social and environmental measures that will guide its responsible integration on the territory and its contribution to local economic development.
The cluster in the municipalities of Guillena, Burguillos and Alcalá del Río (Seville) will be commissioned in 2026 and will have the capacity to generate more than 515,000 MWh of electricity annually. clean energy, enough to power the equivalent of approximately 132,000 homes. The project, which will have a total capacity of 248 MWp, will mean the creation of 350 direct jobs, both in the construction and operating phases, as well as the contribution of 8 million euros in local taxes in this first year and almost 1 million euros to local taxes. euros per year during the operating phase.

Lightsource bp commitment to the environment
During the visit, representatives of Lightsource bp explained the the company’s commitment to biodiversity and the local environment by implementing various environmental integration measures. From the annual study of bird life to selecting the location of the plant in land compatible with birds, to drawing up a calendar of works that avoids the breeding season of endangered species. In addition, a permeable fence and a plant screen with native species will be installed to integrate the sun plants into the landscape and allow the passage of local fauna. Finally, bird protection equipment is placed on the power lines.
Light source bp too will promote agri-environmental management through agreements with local landowners to improve the habitat of steppe birds and it will carry out the renaturation of areas within the solar power plants to protect soil and increase biodiversity.
