Maresme Circular is once again committed to photovoltaic energy

One of the main producers of renewable energy in the province of Catalonia is Maresme Circular, which will expand the photovoltaic roof in their territory. waste management and recovery center.

Maresme Circular is expanding the photovoltaic coverage of its Comprehensive Waste Recovery Center from Maresme. This new installation doubles the solar energy production capacity, adding 477 MWh/year to the 375 MWh/year generated so far, marking a new step in the center’s energy efficiency. All energy generated will be used for self-consumption, making the facilities more sustainable.

The project, with a budget of 260,957 euros and financed thanks to a grant from the Barcelona Provincial Council’s ‘Renewable Sector Program 2030’, includes the installation of 766 new photovoltaic modules with a power of 485 Wpwhich will be added to the existing 1,700, forming the largest photovoltaic roof in Mataró and the Maresme region.

Maresme Circular is consolidated as one of the main producers of renewable energy in Catalonia and a measure of the diversity of sources from which the country generates energy in its facilities.

100,000 mW/h per year of photovoltaic energy

The Maresme Comprehensive Waste Recovery Center produces more than 100,000 megawatt hours of electrical energy per year through three sources: the energy recovery of waste that cannot be recycled, the biological treatment process of anaerobic digestion for biogas generation and the photovoltaic coverage.

Currently that is the Center 100% energy self-sufficient and distributes two-thirds of this 100,000 megawatt hours of energy produced to the electricity grid, providing electricity to approximately 30,000 households.

In this way, the Maresme Circular company contributes to facing and mitigating the consequences of the climate crisiswithout the need to use fossil fuels when it comes to operating its facilities, while at the same time moving towards increasingly effective and sustainable management of waste and materials.
