THE COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE NATIONAL ASBESTOS OBSERVATORY AND THE VICTIMS OF DUTY OBSERVATORY IS BORN IN ROME, PRESIDED BY THE LAWYER EZIO BONANNI, THE NEW CARABINIERI UNION, CREATED TO PROTECT THE COLLECTIVE INTERESTS OF THE MILITARY PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR SECURITY AND THE ACADEMY OF LEGALITY , PRESIDED BY DOCTOR PAOLA VEGLIANTE
National Asbestos Observatory, Victims of Duty Observatory, Academy of Legality e New Carabinieri Union together for a partnership dedicated to protecting the health of women and men in uniform.
The memorandum of understanding signed in Rome by the four bodies has the objective of to ease the bureaucratic and legal processes and provide support to all the victims or, in the event of death, to the heirs.
«I thank the New Carabinieri Union for the driving role in defending health in the workplace, beyond the specific role of their members – commented the lawyer. Ezio Bonannipresident of the ONA and of the Victims of Duty observatory -. And at the same time, as the National Asbestos Observatory, in agreement with the Academy of Legality, chaired by Dr. Paola Vegliantei, we are ready to work together, all united against asbestos, against depleted uranium, against heavy metals . But also against cases of infringement of the rights of our Carabinieri. I am thinking of ordinary and organized crime. In particular for the equalization of victims of duty with those of terrorism.”
Inspired by the values of the Italian Constitution
The four associations intend to act jointly, inspired by the values of Italian constitution. Among the priorities, there is the need for a more coherent organization in the fight against crime.
Furthermore, according to Bonanni, there must no longer be any discrimination against our men and women in uniform that they suffer while on duty. Currently, for example, if a Carabiniere loses his life during a firefight with a criminal who does not belong to organized crime, the victim’s children are often discriminated against if they are adults and not dependent.
“This is not good – underlines Bonanni – and we insist on the protection of all rights on equal terms.” E inadmissiblealso for the other representatives of the associations.
The epidemiological incidence among the carabinieri employed in the Balkans is high
The four associations have therefore expressed among their objectives the desire to subject all registered soldiers, upon their return from missions abroad, to medical checks to evaluate their health status. Often, in fact, there is no real awareness of the risk of exposure to toxic substances such asImpoverished uranium o l’asbestos not even in Risk Assessment Document (DVR).
The Duty Victims Observatory notes that, among the Carabinieri employed in missions abroad, in particular in BALKANSthere is a high epidemiological incidence of victims exposed to heavy metal nanoparticles due to the use of depleted uranium projectiles.
«Thanks to this memorandum of understanding, all men and women who during missions in Italy and abroad are the core business of the Dicastery and may have been contaminated, will have the right protection which is, for us, a clear mission to be carried forward with great feeling of respect”, he has declared Paola Vegliantei.
Pride of the secretaries of the New Carabinieri Union
An initiative that is a source of pride for the secretaries of the New Carabinieri Union Nicholas the Great, Vincenzo Incampo e Michele Fiore. The service, extended throughout the country, guarantees an office in every region.
This new coalition has established one legal staff that supports our soldiers, who are sometimes themselves victims of the very institutions they represent and protect.
It is worth noting, meanwhile, the staff shortage in the Army.
