Festina Lente: explore the green heart with a slowness between Ferrara and Comacchio

In 2025 Ferrara celebrates 30 years as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, together with the tenth anniversary of the Biosphere Reserve of the Delta del Po. Two important anniversaries that give life to Festina Lentean initiative that invites us to rediscover the territory calmly, respect and awareness, along six thematic itineraries designed to enhance local history, environment and traditions.

Festina Lente in Latin means “Hurry slowly” (phrase attributed to the emperor Augustus by the Latin historian Suetonius). An invitation not to procrastinate, but also not to get into it has a hurry and carefully consider their actions.

The project, financed by the Ministry of Tourism, involves the Municipalities of Ferrara, Comacchio and Ostellatoand was created to promote a form of sustainable tourism in the places recognized by theUNESCO. It starts from the majestic Este walls, a green casket in the heart of the city, ideal for walks or rides between bulwarks, towers and breathtaking views.

Along the way, historical doors such as Porta Paola or Porta degli Angeli meet, from which it is possible to easily access the Ferrarese cultural riches.

The Bike & Boat route as part of the Festina Lente project passes through the Estense walls and for Porta degli Angeli from which it is possible to access the historical and cultural wonders of Ferrara.
