Onyx Solar ‘conquers’ New York

The Spanish company Onyx solar energy specialists in photovoltaic technologies are carrying out two emblematic projects that in addition to transforming the New York skylinewill directly contribute to the well-being of the city and New Yorkers.

In a context where every square meter is a valuable resource, especially on an island like Manhattan, photovoltaic glass solutions are of Onyx Solar They are consolidated as an innovative answer that allows us to generate clean energy without sacrificing the aesthetic space in our buildings.

On the emblematic Fifth Avenue, project 262 redefines the New York skyline with its stylized 56-story tower. Onyx Solar offers your innovative photovoltaic glass for facades south, north and west of the building, an architectural solution that combines design, energy efficiency and sustainability. This solution, designed by the architecture studio Meganom, in collaboration with SLCE Architects and Gualini in the production and installation of the facade, meets the highest safety and sustainability standards, generates clean energy and reduces CO2 emissions, in line with the climate goals of the city.

A few blocks away, on Sixth Avenue, Onyx solar energy has provided for the terrace of building 625 Avenida de las Américas a photovoltaic floor designed to withstand pedestrian traffic and has a non-slip finish, freeing up space on the roofs for other uses and providing aesthetic and functional integration. This patented product Onyx Solardeveloped entirely in Ávila, reaches a power of 135 W per square meter. The project was developed in collaboration with Solar Deck and RDE Advisors, Inc., owners of the building, who relied on the experience of Onyx solar energy to improve energy efficiency of the property.

Onyx Solar innovation

“The integration of our photovoltaic glass solutions in emblematic projects in New York reaffirms our vision commitment to sustainability and innovation. It is satisfying to see how these initiatives not only beautify the urban landscape, but also contribute significantly to reducing the city’s carbon footprint,” says Álvaro Beltrán, Managing Director of Onyx solar energy.

A benchmark in sustainability

Unlike other solutions on the market, the Onyx Solar photovoltaic glass stands out for its ability to integrate aesthetically pleasing in any building, without compromising functionality or user experience. These features position it as a preferred solution over alternatives such as traditional solar panels, which often take up limited roof space and pose aesthetic challenges.

According to data presented at COP29 in Azerbaijan, the construction sector is responsible for 38% of global energy-related CO₂ emissions. In this context photovoltaic building materials such as those from Onyx Solarthat integrate perfectly into buildings and allow them to reduce their ecological footprint will become essential to limit climate change.

From its small hometown, where this photovoltaic glass is manufactured, to the skyscrapers of Manhattan, Onyx Solar continues to demonstrate how technology can transform urban landscapes towards a cleaner and more responsible future, inspiring architects and developers around the worldO.

Las Applied photovoltaic technologies are one of the pillars of sustainability That should be the one who governs cities, in a context of combating climate change and commitment to resilience.
