A whole series of activities that are included in the principles of «Transparency, accountability, citizen participation, public integrity and collaboration»As ministerial sources explain.
What does the miteco do?
The Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (Miteco) will boost more than a hundred events to bring their activity closer to citizens within the framework of the Open Administration Weekwhich seeks to favor compliance with the principles of open government – transparency, accountability, citizen participation, public integrity and collaboration – and that this year It will be held between May 19 and 25.
Among the activities proposed for next week, in addition to promoting debates, open doors and presentations, The Ministry will disseminate informative content that will allow citizens to learn more in depth the functioning of their various work areassuch as the integrated biodiversity information system or the impact of pollutant emissions and the actions that are underway for their reduction.
Throughout next week, citizens will have the opportunity to meet first hand some of the main work areas that are addressed in Miteco, through multiple events, among which are the following:
- Tuesday, May 20. What is done in the Serranillo? The miteco proposes a Visit to the National Center for Forest Genetic Resources El Serranilloin which up to 40 people can participate, who can know different spaces in this center, such as the store warehouse or different plantations of mycorrhizae and grafts, as well as participating in the realization of some of the daily tasks of the greenhouse, the mycological laboratory and the seed laboratory.
- Tuesday, May 20. Projection of the documentary “The river natural reserves of the Guadiana Basin”that will bring citizens closer to the natural environment of this basin, and that adds to various projections programmed throughout the week, related to the activity developed by the Guadiana Hydrographic Confederation, such as the documentary ‘Guadianer@s’, or the projection on what a confederation is, among others.
- Wednesday, May 21. Day on the participation process in hydrological planswhich will allow citizens to know what is the usual procedure for the design of hydrological plans and what are the ways in which the different interested agents can participate in their development.
- Wednesday, May 21. Colloquium on Rural Campus. This program, which in 2025 celebrates its fourth edition, offers practices to university students in rural environments, with the aim of bringing talent to small municipalities throughout the national territory. So far, more than 1,500 students have developed their practices in institutions, companies and associations located in the rural world.
- Thursday, May 22. Presentation of the Annual Climate Report of Spain 2024. This event will allow citizens to know what are the most important aspects of the climate in Spain throughout the year, deepening the analysis of air and sea water temperatures and their trends, rainfall and periods of drought, insolation, storms and extreme meteorological phenomena, as well as dominant atmospheric patterns.
- Friday, May 23. Official presentation of the 9th Spanish Forest Congress and the XV edition of the Asturforest International Forest Fair. The Spanish Forest Congress, organized every four years by the Spanish Society of Forest Sciences, is the main forum for forest professionals in Spain and is aimed at presenting research and promoting debate. Asturforesta, which will take place in Asturias in the month of June, is the most important fair of forest demonstrations, gathering advanced technology and professionals in the sector.
