WELCOME TO HOGWARTS… – HE IS MAKING A JOKE -. SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 21 WITH THE EVENT “RODS & TEST TUBES” SCIENCE WEEK BEGINS. APPOINTMENT AT THE EX CARTIERA LATINA IN ROME, FROM 2:30 PM
Welcome to Hogwarts… – we joke -. Saturday September 21 with the event “Rodsticks & Test Tubes” starts there Science weekAppointment atEx Cartiera Latina in Rome, from 2:30 PM. This celebration of science includes 500 events in 20 cities, with almost 2,000 researchers ready to amaze all of Italy!
A harbinger of European Night of LEAF Researchers, scheduled for Friday, September 27, organized by Frascati Scienza.
How much they can be “magic” science and research
The decision to combine science and magic is a bold one, he says Alessandra from the Czech RepublicScientific director of European Night of LEAF Researchers. It is usually thought that one excludes the other, but the aim is to overcome the magical appearance of certain phenomena and help adults and children understand the hidden mechanisms behind apparently magical effects.
These phenomena are even more fascinating once they are understood. “We want to tell the public and let them experience how ‘magical’ science and research can be, because researchers are ultimately people who have learned to look at reality with different eyes, to go beyond appearances and manage to perceive the magic who hides in everyday life, even behind a fruit fly or a leaf floating in the air, driven by the wind”, concludes the researcher.
Lessons, science games, laboratories and extraordinary experiments
The researchers are ready to reveal wonders through lessons, science games, laboratories and extraordinary experiments, with free admission and reservation required.
It will be possible to discover the plants described in the books of the most famous magician in the world, play with chemical potions like real alchemists and observe the transformation of matter before our eyes, defying the laws of physics.
Moreover, it will not be necessary to look for fantastic creatures such as the Niffler or the Hippogriff to discover incredible animals: knowledge of small fantastic creatures is essential to conduct scientific research.
Il “scientific banquet”
The wait for the big event on September 27, the European Night of LEAF Researchers, continues. It will be a day full of hundreds of events, which will last well into the night, offering the opportunity to explore the world of science and the work of researchers. Last year the event attracted 60,000 visitors, accompanied by more than 2,000 researchers in 900 events spread over 32 cities.
Once again this year, Italy is being flooded from north to south with the “scientific banquet”: the University of Parma will offer escape rooms about sustainability and demonstrate how nanomaterials can protect our health.
In Piacenza, films about the energy transition are shown and artificial intelligence and innovation in food design are discussed, while in Palermo we dream big with the event “WE DREAM OF THE FUTURE!”especially for schools. However, in Potenza we will play with logic, mathematics and algorithms.
The cities of… science
Many cities will open their doors to science: Ariccia, Carbonia, Cassino, Colleferro, Cosenza, Fiumicino, Frascati, Gorga, Latina, Monterotondo, Nemi, Palermo, Parma, Piacenza, Pisa, Potenza, Rome, Sestu, Velletri and Ventotene open their doors. protagonists of this extraordinary initiative.
Connecting education, awareness and the future
LEAF is the name of the European Night of Male and Female Researchers, an initiative that aims to raise awareness about scientific work and bring the general public closer to the world of science.
The abbreviation LEAF stands for Connecting education, awareness and the future (Connecting education, consciousness and the future). This project aims to connect science education, public awareness and the development of a vision of the future through events and activities that promote scientific research and innovation.
LEAF is funded by the program HORIZON-MSCA-2023-CITIZENS-01-01 of the European Commission, thanks to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions. The proposal of Frascati science and its partners received an excellent score from the Commission.
