«Already in recent weeks, in Italy, we have witnessed a heated debate on the provision approved by the majority of parliament which allows associations “in support of maternity” to operate within the public family counseling centers, a provision that was included in the decree on measures financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). It is clear that it is one electoral political provocation. Initiatives like these risk representing the tomb stone of our clinics, from which women in difficulty, and especially the younger ones, will probably keep their distance from now on» declares Puiatti.
The reactions of the new generations
For the AIED president, young people are aware of the implications of policies on their lives and, therefore, demonstrate a clear dissent towards the States General of birth rates, interpreted as a moralistic and demagogic attempt to influence their personal choices. This paternalistic attitude, rather than encouraging a free and conscious vision of their future, perceives them as subjects to be indoctrinated rather than educated.
«If we add to this the numerous initiatives, often just propaganda, which exalt the intrinsic goodness of the traditional family and ignore, when not denying, the value of individual happiness and the contribution that every diversity can bring to society, dissent and protest are a healthy reflex, which must be listened to and considered and not repressed with truncheons or ignored with disdain for treason» continues Puiatti.
