A conference to face the microplastical emergency

In recent days it took place “The Custodians Earth Solution Symposium”the seminar promoted by BioDesign Foundation In collaboration with Marina Militare, Guardia di Finanza, Coast Guard and University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli.

The event brought together researchers, institutional representatives and businesses to deal with the spread of microplastics and the related impacts on health and the environment.

The focus of the debate went beyond the simple complaint, often reiterated but not always listened to. But, he focused on the awareness and information of concrete solutions such as recycling, reuse and innovation.

Moderation and vision BIODESIGN

Moderated by Tessa Gelisio, TV presenter and author always attentive to the issues of environmental sustainability and Silvia Bencivelli, journalist and scientific popularizer, the Symposium has deepened the principles of “BioDesign”inspired by the thought of the visionary designer Luigi Colani and its formula “90% nature + 10% transformation”.

The goal: to reconcile human activities and protection ofecosystemgiving space to projects capable of redefining the relationship between man and nature.

La Plastic Race Italy 2025

The meeting was the springboard for The Custodians Plastic Race Italythe largest Clean-Up operation ever made in Italy so far. From 6 to 12 October 2025, schools, companies, institutions and citizens will be involved in a collective action to clean the territory from plastic waste. The goal: to make the fight against plastic a national movement replicable also globally.

The magazine of change

On the occasion of the meeting it was also presented The Custodians Earth Solution Magazine: a bilingual (Italian/English) publication on a half -yearly basis, which was born with the aim of deepening and spreading academic and cultural contents linked to the challenges that our planet faces and respective solutions.

The magazine is full of texts, graphics and photographs, to offer the reader an engaging and complete experience. The first edition hosts eighteen academic articles, part of which have also been physically presented within the The Custodians Earth Solution Symposiumwhich in fact focus on the theme of micro and nano plastics and their impact in nature, on biodiversity and human health.

To open the works, the greetings of Roberto Guerini, president of Biodesign Foundation, flanked by representatives of the institutions: Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Minister of the Environment, Contramiraglio Vincenzo Aglieri, Navy, Contrameiraglio Luigi d’Aniello, Coast Guard, Gen. Riccardo Rapanotti, Guardia di Finanza.

There are also numerous interventions of scientists and experts who have faced microplastics from multiple perspectives: from environmental analysis to health effects.

The day ended with a panel dedicated to concrete solutions. Among the protagonists: Enespa, which proposes an innovative chemical recycling system, Naturasì, promoter of a conscious diet and Edenwell, with a system to regenerate drinking water. These realities share with Biodesign the mission of transforming the plastic crisis into an opportunity for change.
