Did you know there is one? flammable by metal Is it better than green energy and hydrogen? It’s already a reality and if you know what we’re talking about, it might even seem familiar to you. When we talk about materials that can release energy, it is worth being alert, because it has been discovered that some fuels are not as good as we thought.
In the next lines we will tell you the origin of this form of energy. It is not a primary energy source, but rather an energy inventor that requires a contribution of energy to obtain.
It also has the peculiarity that it can store energy to gradually release it later. It is intended for applications where it is presented as an efficient solution.

We are talking about hydrogen, but not about green hydrogen, but about turquoise hydrogen. Turquoise H is generated by pyrolysis of methane. This produces solid carbon. Capturing the resulting carbon is not necessary. This flammable metal achieves great things and is “almost” unknown.
Turquoise hydrogen is attracting special attention as a cheaper production option flammable without CO2 emissions, depending on the electricity source used in the methane heating process.
The process involves the pyrolysis of metal cast, powered by natural gas. The procedure involves passing natural gas through a molten metal, releasing hydrogen and solid carbon. In this way, the formation of polluting CO2 emissions is avoided.
In fact this flammable It has long been seen as a path to a low-carbon economy. The Japanese manufacturer of industrial machines Ebara announced in 2022 that it was working on a new method to generate this type of hydrogen. The goal is to bring it to market in 2026 to capitalize on the momentum the world has taken toward decarbonization.
The company, located in Tokyohas as allies the National Institute of Materials Sciencethe Shizuoka University and the material manufacturer Taiyo Koko.
The Development organization for new energy and industrial technologies was the one who requested the project, with support from the Japanese government.
Turquoise hydrogen: metal fuel opens the door to new opportunities
The method used so far extracts H and carbon in the same reactor, but Ebara you want to do the extraction separately so you can get different types of solid carbon without affecting H production in any way.
There are various applications for carbon, from carbon black (to make tires stronger) to carbon fibers (for cars and aircraft). His team believes that turquoise hydrogen is essential to achieving a ‘sustainable society’.
Types of hydrogen
The color of hydrogen indicates how it is produced and is an important indicator of the amount of emissions generated by the process. We will then tell you more about the types of H that exist besides turquoise.
- Vegetable. It is the so-called renewable hydrogen. It comes from water and uses electricity that comes from renewable energy sources.
- Yellow. The electricity used for electrolysis comes from mixed sources, from renewable energy to fossil fuels. The green H that comes from solar energy is also given this name.
- Pink. It is obtained by electrolysis of water, powered by nuclear energy. It is a very sustainable form of hydrogen.
- Blue. It refers to hydrogen producing CO2 emissions that are captured and then stored or reused (for example for the production of ecofuels). It is a low emission type of H.
- White. It is found in nature, usually in gaseous form. Sometimes it can be found in underground deposits.
- Black, brown or gray. Production takes place based on raw materials in the form of hydrocarbons, such as methane gas, coal or other fossil fuels.
It is flammable by metal, without a doubt, is gaining ground, just like the rest of the hydrogen types. So much so that hydrogen has even reached the van sector.
