A truly sustainable project
The aim of the ProBiodiversidad Livestock project is to promote sustainability at all levels, both in terms of the environment in which it lives. Livestock farms also develop in relation to the activity itself. For this reason, all farms included in this project are based on compliance with animal welfare parameters monitored by an external company to ensure compliance, as well as strict management and breeding criteria.
These commitments are related to exclusive practices of extensive livestock farming in the mountains and the sustainability of the herds for at least six months in ports, feeding based on natural grasses and forages, eliminating artificial methods of controlling farrowing crates, maintaining high animal welfare standards with livestock and guard dogs, as well as vocational training and improvement of farms.
“ProBiodiversity Livestock” is one scientific-technical project which receives support from the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
