The renewable company BRUC connects its first hybrid batteries to solar energy in Extremadura

The Bruc company takes its latest generation project in maximizing storage in hybrid batteries, capturing the surplus generated during peak solar production hours in Cáceres, Extremadura.

New hybrid batteries

BRUC, one of the fastest growing and most dynamic companies in the renewable energieshas with the. reached an important milestone in its strategic plan connection of the first two hybridized batteries with solar energy in two of its photovoltaic power stations in Cáceres (Cáceres 2020, 51 MW and Cáceres 2021, 53 MW). The storage systems installed in the photovoltaic power stations have a charging capacity of 2 MWh and 4 MWh respectively.

This was taken into account when designing the projects advanced technology to maximize efficiency of storage. In particular, hybridized batteries are designed to store at least 2,190 MWh of energy annually, capturing the surplus generated during peak solar production hours. This storage system makes it possible releasing accumulated energy in times of high demandthat optimizes energy flow management.

Furthermore, this storage strategy not only increases the responsiveness of the energy system to fluctuations in demand, but also improves the stability and resilience of the electricity grid. To the reduce dependence on conventional energy sources during peak consumptionminimizes the impact on the environment and promotes a more sustainable use of energy sources. In this way, an environment is created that is conducive to the transition to a more efficient and reliable energy system, which can adapt to the changing needs of the market and consumers.

Bet on the future of renewable energy sources

This pilot project represents a new step for BRUC in realizing its strategic plan. The company is currently developing 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of storage systems hybridization of batteries in their photovoltaic installations. This capacity will reduce dependence on solar hours and enable more efficient management of electricity production, effectively integrating renewable energy sources and maximizing the stability of energy supply.

‘By storage, BRUCMake optimal use of the potential of your generation installationsn providing an efficiency factor for both the factory itself and the transport network operator,” says Juan Béjar, president of BRUC.

For his part, Luis Venero, CEO of BRUC, adds: “The connection of these first batteries is a milestone in the development of BRUC’s business plan, whose main axis is the construction and management of a portfolio of 8,000 MW in Spain , utilizing the potential of all plants through hybridization with wind energy and storage.

With this project, the organization maintains its policy of sustainable growth, based on renewable energy sources, in accordance with the the frameworks for emissions set by the EU towards 2050.
