The trout (Salmo trutta) is a salmonid classified as vincurable in the Red Book of Spanish Vertebrates. It lives in fast, cold water and is therefore a good indicator of the good ecological status of mountain rivers. It is threatened by genetic contamination originating from repopulation specimens from fish farms of Central European and Scandinavian origin.

Agriculture and the Interior have started the construction of a breeding bank in the municipality of Rascafría. The works started last December, expected at the end of this year starts its activity and the first trout can be won.
