Many have heard of portable solar panels or home solar panels so that everyone can have that type of renewable energy source in their own home. However, something that has not yet been exploited as much or has become as popular is the small wind turbine. Now this could be possible very soon.
It seems crazy and unthinkable to have your own wind power generator at home, but they are working to make it a reality with this new invention that will be very useful. This new wind turbine was made by a company from the Netherlands called “Flower Turbines” and is a novelty in the field of sustainable energy.
Is portable wind energy possible?
Although when we think of wind energy turbines, the first thing that comes to mind are the huge poles in the middle of the roads of huge wind farms, so it is almost impossible to imagine one in our own homes, this is already happening, there It is becoming wind turbines that anyone can install in their own home to extract energy from the wind.
This is Flower Turbines, a new project that plans to change the entire panorama of wind energy production, simplifying the process and bringing this possibility closer to many families.
How flower turbines work
These small wind energy turbines are built on a vertical axis and are less than 5 meters long. Their resistance is 200 km/h and they do not need bolts, in addition, they have a fairly long service life, 20 years. One of these to have in your own home can cost around €1,600.
The other big advantage is that because they are smaller and lower, obviously electricity would be produced with a lower wind speed, from 4m/s. Another of their biggest advantages is that they do not produce annoying noises and do not harm the environment or birds, a problem that has been much discussed with large wind turbines, as they often pose a danger to many birds.
This happens thanks to its design, which has a vertical axis and a round and compact shape, which makes it much more difficult for birds to collide with it. They are also smaller and located at lower elevations.
Another feature that stands out the most is the small turbines They adapt to all types of homes, as they can be located both on roofs or terraces of lower buildings in quiet areas and in skyscrapers in more urbanized areas. In addition, their placement is much more practical and efficient, because they have the shape of “flowers” and can be placed as if they were a bouquet of flowers.
Their comfort and practicality are also due to the fact that they have a system called Eco-Roof Energy Hub that allows these wind turbines to be integrated with solar panels so that the presence of one type of energy does not cancel out the other, as they can be used even in more confined spaces are installed.
What rules apply to this type of renewable energy?
As new sustainable energy initiatives like this emerged, the Netherlands and the European Union established rules for the installation of solar panels on balconies, something that is already widely seen. But now that other inventions like this are also emerging, for example wind energy via small turbines, new standards must be established.
By There are standards for large wind turbinessuch as the European Commission’s Wind Power Package and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) guidelines, which exist to regulate their use.
What is still missing is the establishment of new regulatory frameworks for the consumption of wind energy, as is already happening with solar energy.
