MITECO has made the third call for subsidies through public consultation with the aim of carrying out a significant improvement in the efficiency of the urban water cycle. The funds allocated amount to 50 million euros, but could be increased to 100.

The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has launched public consultation the draft resolution approving the third call for subsidies (2024) in competitive concurrence of projects to improve the efficiency of the urban water cycle (PERTE digitization of the water cycle), within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. The amount is 50 million euros, which may be increased to 100 million.

PERTE water call

The aid is intended for projects of digitization of the urban water cycle that cover high supply, distribution, sanitation and purification, with the clear objective of improving knowledge of water uses, reducing losses, improving the efficiency of the systems, optimizing energy expenditure and promoting transparency and communication with the citizenship and the different public and private entities involved.

The first PERTE call aimed at improving the efficiency of the urban cycle (Order TED/934/2022), of 200 million, was resolved in November 2023 with 30 benefited projects. The second call launched (Order TED/919/2023), for 300 million, was resolved on August 20 with 50 projects benefiting and the final resolution is expected to be published in the coming days

Taking into account the available credit and the interest aroused by these calls, this third call is launched with small changes, but with the aim of providing more opportunities to launch water digitalization projects in small municipalities.

The final resolution will be published soon. The second call will also be launched, for another 100 million
