Fondana (Foundation Fund for the Protection of Nature) opens the deadline for submitting applications for the XV edition of the Fondana Nature Conservation Prizean award to which 30,000 euros is also awarded.
Founded more than 40 years ago, Fondana has collaborated and funded several initiatives dedicated to this protection of the biodiversity of Spanish fauna and flora. Candidates can be submitted until April 30, 2025. The jury will make a decision no later than July 13, 2025.
Fondana Prize
The Foundation Fund for the Protection of Nature, Fondena, has opened the deadline for submitting applications for the 15th edition of the prize awarded every two years to entities, people, institutions or working groups whose creative or research work has a important contribution to the conservation of the fauna and/or flora of Spain.
Interested parties must send their proposals by email email before April 30, 2025 and the jury will make a decision by July 13, 2025. This recognition consists of a diploma that includes the presentation of the prize and a cash prize of 30,000 euros.
In the Previous editions we received numerous applications from the highest level and the prize, created in 1997, has been awarded to the following people and institutions: César Gómez Campo (1997), José Antonio Valverde (1999), ADENA/WWF (2001), Dehesa Monreal (2003), Royal Botanical Garden ( 2005), Benigno Varillas (2007), Jesús Garzón (2009), SEO-Birdlife (2011), Rehabilitation “Mina de As Pontes” (2013), Group for the Rehabilitation of Native Fauna and its Habitat – GREFA (2015), Miguel Ángel Ferrer (2017), Oso Pardo Foundation (2019), the Hunting Resources Research Institute – IREC (2021) and Finca El Castañar (2023).
Since its founding, Fondana has developed the nature conservation in Spain contributing to various projects such as the conservation of the Iberian lynx, the protection and recovery of the bearded vulture in the Spanish Pyrenees or the maintenance of the Montejo de la Vega de la Serrezuela Raptor Refuge, which constitutes an enclave of great importance for Iberian birds of prey with one of the most important colonies of griffon vultures in the country.
The Foundation Fondenais one of the leading organizations committed to this nature conservation in Spain. Its creation dates back to 1982 and its objectives include the protection and conservation of natural resources and flora and fauna, while promoting various activities, both educational and scientific.
